Summer camp with Oceanside Theatre Company Youth Academy

Children and youth of ages 6 to 17 have an opportunity to enroll in Oceanside Theatre Company Youth Academy's (OTCYA) four-week musical production summer camp, which includes fun and training in acting, singing, dance, improvisation, theatre, games, lighting, sound, stage craft, and even marching in the 22nd annual Oceanside Independence Parade. Participants then will become a part of a musical written by Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, Seussical Jr., an exciting full-length stage production with costumes and sets. Camp dates are June 6 to July 3, 2016, Mondays to Fridays, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Performance dates are July 1 and 2 with evening performances at 7:00 pm, and July 3 with a matinee show at 2:00 pm. Production is directed by Dhyana Dahl, with Music Director and Choreographer Shaun Hagan, and Academy Director Deborah Dodaro.

The four-week camp costs $595. Tuition includes morning snack, costumes, and cast party. (Lunch must be provided by students.) Siblings and military families receive 10% discounts. The camp will take place at The Brooks Theatre downtown Oceanside and its adjacent Studio 219. The Brooks Theatre is located at 217 North Coast Hwy. The mission of Oceanside Theatre Company Youth Academy (OTCYA) is to introduce and develop students' interests in the theatre arts. OTCYA is dedicated to providing opportunities in order for students to reach their potential through the joy of artistic discovery. It is the organization's hope that all students training with OTCYA will develop a passion and lifelong love of the theatre arts.

Oceanside Theatre Company’s goal is to create professional quality theatre for a vibrant and diverse population. OTC will strive to reach a wide audience base and encourage and improve artistic growth in the community by producing a broad repertoire of theatre, giving local theatre artists creative opportunities and offering educational theatre and outreach programs.
